Unshū

Unshū

Background

Unshū means “cloud hands.” The plaque writes the older Okinawan name ウンシュウ, the reading of 雲手. The kata is known for leaping, one-legged stances, and open-hand technique that shifts like cloud. Sensei Tsuha’s empty-hand order places it after Jion and before the old-style Passai.
