Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of the Original Okinawan Karate website, including Google Sign-In and visit-appointment requests. Effective date: September 10, 2026.

Agreement

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) apply to originalokinawankarate.com (the “Site”), operated by Original Okinawan Karate, Grand Rapids Dojo, 5260 Division Ave SE, Kentwood, MI 49508.

By browsing the Site, signing in with Google, submitting the contact form, or otherwise using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

What the Site Provides

The Site is an informational website about the dojo and Okinawan karate. It also lets you:

  • Sign in with Google to create and use a member profile
  • Request a visit appointment through the contact form

Using the Site or requesting a visit does not enroll you as a student and does not create a training, membership, or tuition contract.

Google Sign-In and Accounts

Member accounts are created through Google Sign-In. We receive your name, email address, and Google profile image from the Google account you choose, as described in our Privacy Policy. You must have the right to use that Google account.

You are responsible for activity that occurs while you are signed in. To close your account and request deletion of the profile data we store, email grandrapidsdojo@gmail.com or use the contact form.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Site for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts, data, or systems
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Site
  • Scrape, copy, or republish Site content except as allowed below
  • Misrepresent who you are when signing in or contacting the dojo

We may suspend or delete an account, or refuse a visit request, if we reasonably believe these Terms have been violated.

In-Person Training

These Terms cover the website only. Training at the dojo is a physical activity with its own risks and is governed by the Dojo Manners & Rules and by any waiver, membership, or other agreement you sign in person. Nothing on the Site is a substitute for that in-person paperwork.

Intellectual Property

Text, photographs, logos, video, and other content on the Site are owned by Original Okinawan Karate or used with permission. You may view and share links to public pages for personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, sell, or reuse Site content for commercial purposes without prior written permission.

Disclaimers

The Site is provided “as is.” Information about karate, history, ranks, and training is for general education. It is not medical, legal, or professional advice, and it does not guarantee any training outcome.

We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. Google Sign-In and related Google services are provided by Google under Google’s own terms.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Original Okinawan Karate and its instructors, officers, and volunteers are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site. Liability related to in-person training is addressed only in the agreements you sign at the dojo, not by these Terms.

Privacy

How we collect and use information, including Google Sign-In data, is explained in the Privacy Policy. That policy is part of how we operate the Site; it does not replace these Terms.

Minors

If you are under 18, a parent or guardian should review these Terms with you. Google Sign-In is available only if you can create or use a Google account under Google’s own terms. A parent or guardian should submit visit requests on behalf of a child.

Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of the Site after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts located in Kent County, Michigan, have exclusive venue for disputes arising from these Terms or the Site, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
