Kūsankū Shō

Kūsankū Shō

Background

Kūsankū Shō is the minor, shorter form of Kūsankū. The kata is named for a Chinese envoy whose teaching in the eighteenth century shaped Shuri-te; Itosu later divided the material into a minor form and a major form. Shō keeps the glance to the sky, the high kicks, and the feeling of fighting in the dark, in a more compact arrangement.
