Kūsankū Dai

Kūsankū Dai

Background

Kūsankū Dai is the major form and one of the principal kata of Shuri-te. Sakugawa Kanga learned the material connected with the envoy Kūsankū and passed it into the line that reaches Matsumura and Itosu. It is a long kata: the opening look to the heavens, wide movement, and a full study of distance. Sensei Tsuha’s wall posts it on its own plaque, beside the minor form.
