Tesshō
Tesshō
Background
Tesshō means “iron palm.” The plaque at the end of the empty-hand row is a conditioning kata for the palm and forearm, not one of the long classical fighting forms. It trains the striking surface of the open hand that the other kata use. The clearer photograph confirms the characters 鉄掌.
