Seisan

Seisan

Background

Seisan, “thirteen,” is one of the oldest kata still practiced in Okinawa, older than Itosu’s school revisions and shared by Shuri and Naha traditions. The Shōrin-ryū form keeps the Shuri-te character: rooted stances, close-range seizure, and direct power. On this wall it stands alone, between Naihanchi and the Pinan series.
