Sakugawa’s Bo (Shō & Dai)

Sakugawa no Kon, Shō / Dai

Background

Sakugawa no Kon is attributed to Sakugawa Kanga, “Tode” Sakugawa, who links eighteenth-century Shuri martial practice to Matsumura. The wall posts the short bo and the long bo on one plaque. The dai is one of the principal bō kata of Okinawan kobudō; the shō is its shorter companion.
